It's up to 2K. If it were local(ish), I might bid just for nostalgia's sake. But it's in Alberta, so just getting it back here would cost as much as the car.

How in the hell does a beat up, rusty, cracked-dash XR4Ti get onto BAT exactly? I thought that site was supposed to be for "hey this is a neat old car and it's pretty clean" kind of things.

No. It's a site for interesting oddities. The XR4Ti is certainly that. And besides, in the world of old Merkurs, this one actually *is* pretty clean.
