It was by far the most pleasant car buying experience I've ever had.

From test drive to delivery. And even after. When I got home, I noticed my phone holder was scuffed. I emailed them about it and received a new one in that mail a few weeks later.

I despise the traditional car sales experience and process. I'm happy to accept some issues while exploring new ideas to create a better system..

You said "The whole f'ed up customer hostile experience start to finish"

So it's just about the test drive? I already said I didn't get dropping them, and that I wouldn't bought my car without one. They will lose some customers and I wonder how many. But that doesn't make them evil assholes. It's a business choice.

If you want to hate on Tesla for /reasons, go for it. But "hostile experience start to finish" most certainly does not describe most people's buying experience.

Yeah. They brought a Model 3 to my house, gave me and the kids rides, let us test fit luggage, etc. I then bought it online.

I don’t know what Tesla is planning to do, but there are ways they could make the test driving thing work without showrooms.

It’s also the case that they are still going to have service centers, so who knows, maybe they will still offer some sort of customer test/experience through those?

They are about disruption. So, our usual expectations will continue to be up ended.

Yeah, but this is like a kickstarter where the prices drop for new orders whlie the original folks are still waiting for their product. Kind of crazy.

And, it was specifically marketed as "Buy it now or it'll cost you more later!" Just kidding, now it's cheaper. Even just EAP which ZBB and I bought is in a similar situation. We were told it would be more expensive post-sale, but if we had skipped and ordered it as an add-on now we'd get FSD for the same money.

I think Elon should *not* have given the $5k back for the PUP price drop. There was no promise that prices wouldn't go down. But saying something will be cheaper pre-sale then dropping the price after sale is pretty shady.
