I had the exact same thought. In fact, your build immediately came to mind.

Yeah it’s really bizarre. Maybe whoever ordered it originally came to their senses and that’s how it ended up in the loaner fleet.

Makes sense although I don’t know why that person didn’t just order a GTS

My guess, because of the strong demand for any model that is a GTS?

Not sure how they allocate model by model but assuming it was an open allocation for an S and and that point of its a company car, why not check off every box? A lot of the company cars are configured by someone in the corporate office and put into a company car pool, I’m assuming Porsche would put a mix of models into that pool throughout the year based on production capacity and market demand.

I knew someone who interviewed there last year. You could spec any car (although no 911s at the time) up to the GTS level. There were some guidelines (no pts colors, had to have premium pkg, etc) but otherwise it sounded pretty open. But yeah with the surge in demand for the 4.0 gts maybe they’ve restricted that model as well . I think it’s pretty unique within the VW group in that respect - other brands (like VW) just have a centralized pool as you described

That is pretty cool info, never knew they had restrictions on what can and cannot be specced.

BTW what an awesome perk for a job ... you get to drive a Porsche.
