Why so many Cayman S with tiptronic?

Curiosity got the best of me, and I've been searching the web for CPO '07-'09 Cayman S... why are there so many automatics?

On another note, it's been a while since I've driven one so I guess I should do that again soon. Equ (and anyone else that knows) -- anything I should think about on a 2007-2009 model?

You should think about a new one. Porsche can do some pretty nutty end-of-year lease deals, so if you wait until Sep. or Oct. 2011 you may be able to pick one up for a surprisingly reasonable fee. I have a buddy that just got a '10 Boxster S this way.

09+ is gen 2, improved but hard to find. Avoid tips, they really suck (test drove one in the name of science). 06-08 all the same, 07 introduced TPMS.

When I get close enough to being serious, I'm going to call the GM at Inskip and see what kind of numbers I can get. Still, something tells me a "deal" on this car will still be more than most BMW leases.

I guess I'll just add this on my list of cars to drive between now and the spring.

This year the lease deals were mostly in June and July... '10 stock was also pretty thin when I started looking in late August (the leases may still have been avail though -- I didn't ask since I found the '08 I bought instead)...

a CPO cayman is likely 'better' than a new 1M 135, too.

Not if you try to sit in the back seat.

well, yeah.

that's a consideration for me, too.

but since Fil has owned an M roadster in the past, i don't sense that seating 4 in a pinch is critical.

I'm not in the market for a wife and it's unlikely that I'll have any kids in the intermediate future.

2 seats is just fine for me.
