More like '03... Last year of the E39 and before the E46 facelift that added the ugly tail lights...

Model S update released. Looks basically like the Model X nose grafted onto the Model S. Smaller changes include body color rocker panels, new LED headlights, new base interior trim (instead of piano black), and the "BioWeapon Defense Mode" filter from the Model X.

The base charger is now the 48 amp unit from the Model X (up from 40), with 72 amps as the optional upgrade (down from 80, which was basically a second 40 amp charger installed as an aftermarket accessory; presumably the new 72 amp charger is a single unit).

Also, the Model X design studio is now open to all -- not just reservation holders...

The Model S has a $1500 base price change. Options are similarly priced (the premium interior package is the same price, but now includes bioweapon defense mode...).

I kind of like it... After seeing the Model X in person, it should look better in person (the camera angle is low in this shot, so seeing it from a standing position gives a different perspective).

Looks like the pics somebody took through the fence last week were the facelift (and I suspected they were -- although others on TMC were arguing that it was just cars without the nosecone...)

----------------

So... I hit 49,500 miles on my Model S on the way to work this morning and will go over 50k sometime in the next 10-12 days.

I've decided to buy the extended warranty -- likely one day next week. The cancellation clause that was added recently helped with the decision. I just priced out both an S and an X -- similarly configured, the X is over $10k higher. Wow.

Current thinking is to keep my Model S and wait for the Model 3.

The Model X base battery is now 75, instead of 70, as well. Does that presage a jump to 75/100 for both the X and the S? Certainly possible.

Came very, very close to upgrading to a CPO P85+ the other day. Had some questions, was emailing back and forth with the pre-owned salesguy, and when I finally pulled the trigger I'd missed the car by 30 minutes.

Fuck.

I traded the truck for a p85d for a couple hours the other day. Made me realize how much better physical buttons are, and I am still kind of annoyed because I couldn't figure out how to engage the auto-driving mode until it was too late to try it out.

I sort of hope so, but the one I was looking at was a bit of a unicorn--basically exactly like my car, except a P85+ (i.e., red and had rear-facing seats).

Tesla's release of used vehicles is...hard to understand. They've clearly got more inventory than they've listed on their website (CPO cars are drawn from the loaner pool, in part), and are releasing it through some sort of mechanism to manage supply, but what that mechanism is boggles the mind.

I had a P85+ as a loaner on Fri... Probably a Late '13 or Early '14.

I had fun with acceleration, but I wouldn't trust myself with one...

FWIW, its a double-pull on the cruise control stalk...

The on-screen buttons take a little getting used to. But I'm more than used to them now...
