Which is presumably why China hasn't stomped on it. But I was more thinking the extreme carbon footprint that radically escalates as a designed in feature.

Its level of incompetence is actually making it not be too unsafe. It'll get riskier before it gets better. After some but not enough improvement, users will rely on it more.
