Thanks Theo, being I’ve had the 911 for almost 8 years (it has 15k miles) I was thinking of getting it wrapped in red to change things up a bit.

Something I would never consider in the past but I really love this car and can’t see getting rid of it so it might be fun ... I just need to check into what happens if I get it wrapped and then decide to remove the wrap. I wouldn’t want to damage the paint.

Beautiful 911- definitely agree with holding onto it. The 991 is my favorite of the post air cooled 911s.

Not sure about wraps either - in theory it could protect the paint but I guess there’s a chance of damage during removal.

I would not wrap a car unless there is a compelling reason (race livery, damage cover, etc). It will look stale faster than the paint you're trying to change. But that's me.

But with a wrap, you can remove it and go back to the stock paint look or rewrap with something else.

The thing with wraps is that you make it or break it in the little detail areas. Doing it well takes real skill and it doesn't come cheap. Even then, there will still be edges and they'll wear. If you're someone that doesn't mind imperfections up close, wraps can be a lot of fun. I think that stuff could drive Alan nuts. Or it wouldn't register with him?

My eye for detail is too much so I would say it would definitely register and drive me crazy if there were imperfections ... ask Josh PA for the details I picked up on the blue 991.2 ... I am nuts .... the more I read up on the wrapping process it is not looking good, it seems that they could make razor cuts in your original paint if you don’t get an incredible detailed installer and they disassemble your car ... it doesn’t sound like it is for me.

Got this goofy 530e plug in hybrid as a service loaner. It’s trunk is tiny because of the batteries but it’s also hilariously ill suited as a hybrid; it was plugged in all night but in the morning only had 10 miles of range. I think it’s maximum might be closer to 15?

It’s also not fun to drive and slow. So...win?

What the hell is the point of a 10-mile range? At least 20-30 can handle a short commute or some errands.

The range when fully charged is more than 10--my guess is 15 or so. I think it was about 3/4 full this morning.

I'll try and fully juice it tonight, but the EVSE/charger that comes with the car is sloooow, and of course the car can't handle a 240V 14-50 outlet (because really only Teslas are designed to use those for some reason), so it's charging on a 120V 5-20 outlet.

It probably could handle my (short) commute even with that range, but I can't plug it in at work b/c all I have here is a 14-50.

Ha was kinda curious as to whether it sucked or not. On paper it seemed like it might make a decent commuter lease type car. GUess not. Seems like the upcoming X5 45e is the first BMW plug-in to offer decent range (around 40 miles IIRC). Plus they ditched the 4 cyl and are using an inline 6 w/ it.
