Whoa, I saw it at $22k an hour to go and I thought, maybe, just maybe, I'd stretch to that for a car I want m3/4/5 with a color I like. F that... I'd go higher mileage any day. In comparison, I gave away my LSB e46M.

and seems the same here with my estoril e36 2 door

still want to figure out why it went so high, I saw some of the closing comments about it being a restomod but the pics do not look like it.

The seller is getting rid of like 5 cars in his collection to move on to other things like family and work. He seems to be super anal and picky with them. He has a really nice imola 2000 M5 up at the moment with three more cars to come. As for the E36 the biggest switch was to a 6-spd and then some minor engine and suspension additions. It did say that he purchased four brand new lightweight rims for the cars just last year. Not cheap.

Now that my M3 plan imploded...

What about this?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-bmw-m5-32/

I would need to do much reading to understand what I am getting into with an E39 M5 but I'd only drive it a 3-5k miles per year. It's bound to hold its value well, no?

The lure of Imola is strong.

Yup same seller as the E36 we were just chatting about. See my comment above.

Obviously, I should read.

Anyhow, what would a car like this go for? 30k, 40k?

This guy seems really thorough fixing up a car to his specs once he gets it. The price of the LCI items alone is huge. Head and tail lights new dvd nav unit and updated steering wheel. Being a 2000 with 107k though I would say 24 tops maybe.

....

I have been expecting them to be holding and/or going up but doesn't seem to be based on selling prices I have been seeing(minus low mileage/special color combos).

The E39 M5 is one of the best BMW designs (Not sure if that is because it came out in my prime) Next one is ugly as hell, v10 with exhaust would be nice.
