You’re totally in the right but I’m not even understanding why the car “in front of you”/“across from you” is honking at you. This is the car heading the opposite direction?

I was trying to make a left. When the first car finished the turn, I started going, I was half-way done with my turn when the car across from where I was stopped started moving forward (to cross the intersection) and was annoyed because clearly she felt it was her turn and I had cut in front of her. I had my blinker on the whole time.

This is just this past instance, but I serious when I say something similar has happened at a once/week clip the past month or so. It's getting really annoying. Several weeks ago, I had some young woman slam on the horn while on her cell phone in the other hand. Awesome!

Surprisingly, we have the opposite problem with 4-way stops here in Florida. Since nobody pays attention to anything, and nobody seems to know any rules of the road, they act like they have no clue who should be going first, next, and so on.

Many drivers already ignore the stop signs entirely, slowing down only enough to make make sure they can lock up the brakes in time to avoid t-boning someone. Most everyone else sits there frantically signaling to the other person to go next by repeatedly flashing their headlights at each other.

Personally, I don't understand why these things are so difficult to understand. Remaining aware of things around you would go a long way towards making your time behind the wheel a lot less traumatic.

Ah, I gotcha. See, I would always let the opposite car go ahead and go straight if I was making a left turn so as not to turn ahead of them and make them wait longer. I'd creep froward but let them go straight first before turning. Seems more efficient all around that way
