1971 or 2 Lincoln Mark III. What's amazing (and perhaps not immediately apparent from these photos) is the condition, which was nothing short of pristine. It looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Even more incredible, the owner said it was an unrestored survivor. Crazy.

The drunk guy mentioned something about there being a bunch of awesome cars down by the river. On our way out I saw these.

He had mentioned an open garage. That open garage in the one pic had a classic Ferrari in it. Too many folks standing around to stop the car and take another pic.

Stuka caliber pic of a great looking, but inexplicably slush box equipped, Fiat 2000.

That Lincoln is beautiful, although I gravitate more towards the 64 Continental. Don't like the front end on those cars as much, but do like the suicide rear doors and similar back end treatment. I can't believe this one is a survivor...how many miles did it have?

I think the guy said 68K, which isn't much given the car's age, but the condition is still amazing even for those miles.

Edit: I like the 64s, too, but I also really dig the Continentals from the 50s, like this one I saw at the Dream Cruise. Such an amazingly clean design.

How about a different Lincoln.

A Lincoln Navigator.
I know... Not really 'notable'...

Except that is almost ran me off the road as I was in the middle of a very curious route my navigation took me between.....
Şile and Ağva Merkez Mh along the Black Sea in Turkey.

LINKY

If I would have had a dash cam, that would be ok. But the last thing I had in my hand on this road was a cell phone for pics....

I am back to Turkey for more meetings.
And... have to drive to Izmit from Istanbul. I thought I would try something different. This is the third time I have made this trip - and was not wanting to do the D100 or O-4 again.

Funny - the Hyatt's Concierge this morning said - when I inquired about alternate routes between IST and Izmit... and asked about going north... He looked at me and said... "Road Trip" - I kind of smiled and said something like that.

Awesome day. Some very interesting sights along the route.
Enough about this here on this thread.

I posed this question to a random Turkish friend whose reply was "There is nothing interesting between Izmit and Istanbul other than Istanbul." Putting aside the logical fallacy in that response...what kind of cool stuff did you see?

That's the point... and why I went out of my way and drove along the Black Sea (instead of staying along the Sea of Marmara) to get to Izmit.

Now - granted... This is not scenery on par with Yosemite or Yellowstone or such...

But the coast is nice.
There were several beach areas...
Forests...
Nice twisty roads...
Some cute small villages... (not touristy cute - but not too bad)
Chromed 20' high Buggs Bunny statues... all polished up.

You know, the usual stuff.
(I wish I had been able to get a pic of that bunny statue... )

Just nice scenery...
The regular route between the two places - NOT one that has any redeeming features... Not Izmit either.

That's gorgeous.

Made me think of these guys. I bet one or the other had one of those.
