Have you looked at the Volvo V60? Seems like probably the most interesting "affordable" wagon you can buy today.

I hear pretty awful things about their reliability...Otherwise, they are good looking--and there's a dealer very close by.

Ha!

Knock wood, we have not had any issues with either of our recent BMWs. Nor did I with my 2012 wagon.

Our 2016 X5 is out of warranty and I'm absolutely terrified stuff is going to start breaking before I have a chance to trade it in.

You should buy an extended warranty, most of them can be cancelled Pro rata.

Our extended warranty for the 2009 X5 paid for itself (about $4,500). But just barely. We kept it for 7 years. And it was only the 6 cylinder...

+1

The 40i in the X5 at ~335hp tune is sufficient but a bit lazy. The 50i makes it much better, and the M50i takes that up another notch. It sounds great and it moves effortlessly.

One minor annoyance about having to wait and order a 2021 is that BMW is cutting a bunch of equipment, at least temporarily, presumably due to COVID-related supply issues.
