LOL. I really like the Espresso/Cognac. I economized on my build by selecting the grey interior to go with my Lava exterior.

I have the 18-ways, :eeps. The 14-ways are comfier and more supportive (though they could be heavier). The 18-ways are built on the narrower sports seats frame with thinner pads.

I disagree with FC on price differences. Not thinking about it as a (questionable) investment, but as a car I want to use, the GT4 taught me a few things. Sometimes, having the most of something, e.g. performance, is not necessarily the most fun, not a fan of track-intended cars on the street, especially sport cup 2's, 295 rear widths and several other items. For me I'd take this GTS line over the 718 GT4/Spyder.

The Cup tires is a very good point. And I agree the top is a big deal. Apparently engine performance is very similar (same torque, just 20 more hp).

I personally preferred the adaptive seats on the 997TT to the power seats on the 987S.

Seats are definitely personal; adaptives generally work well for slimmer folk. None of them are as bad as those carbon fiber torture boxes that demanded thousands on resale (or used to at least).

I don't hate mine, not at all, but I know I'd be more comfortable on a longer trip on the 14-ways which have been much improved on the 991/981 compared to the 997/987 generation. I had the power seats in both my 987.2 and 997.2 and they were ok but nothing to write home about. The 981/991 14-ways are like comfy chairs.

You're also likely right on resale. I did not take a bath on the GT4. It's just that having gone that route, I've learned that sometimes a step more street friendly is the better choice. It so happens I came to this realization in the previous incarnation of these exact same cars, so I'm guessing that will hold for this time around as well. I find the 981 S/GTS to be more fun than the GT4. The 718 GTS sounds like the absolute sweet spot in porsche's line-up.

I wonder how many folks will be dumping their relatively new 718s' to get the new 6 cylinder...

Absolutely...except for the tires part, sorta, because it's such an easy/low cost problem to fix. Brand new take offs for cars like these tend to go for nearly new type money and you can put on whatever you want instead. If it's a lease, you buy some used wheels (with or without tires) and go. At lease end, you put the originals back on and done.

But, yeah, you can't use all of a super capable car in public. If you live in a semi-or-more-populated area, good luck having more than an occasional corner or opportunity to flex any of the car's muscles because everyone else in the world is dead set on being in your way and sucking all the fun out of life.

My normal commute is short. There's rarely much traffic, but that traffic often insists on driving at or just below the way-too-low posted speed limit and on the parts that are two lanes, always next to someone else driving the exact same speed.

I often find myself actively wondering why I want to spend money for a enjoyable car when circumstances will prevent me from ever enjoying it. Except when I was commuting in the old NA Miata and constantly thought, why do I need to spend more? Everything "better" is going to suck.

I would be one of them.

I think the 987.2 will be one of the greats in Porsche history because it’s a reasonable power plant for reliability with decent output. And the sound.
