The #Obamaexpress Volvo 850, owned by a Volvo part fabricator drove pretty well.

The S54 will rev pretty well. There are enough folks running daily to 9k that I plan to do that when I put mine in the E30 M3. I’d probably not run that above 3rd gear, mind you.

It can tolerate more than that once you add an oil pump chain tensioner and a decent crank damper, but I'm guessing that's not legal in the Spec class. And it doesn't make power up there anyway.
