Well, I did my waffling, looked at every bike I could think of and then some, and rode the significantly smaller subset of the above that I actually fit. :P I thought I would wind up with an F650CS, but oddly enough, it was the Italian bike that had the features for the price and, from the reviews I've read, the ease of maintenane and the reliability. The seating position fits me perfectly. And the looks ain't chopped liver. Very elegant and Italian.
Delightful little details - temp gauge and clock in the cluster, ice warning when the temp drops a la BMW auto's OBC, yadda. It does a little torque dance at idle, but is marvelously smooth at 3K and over. And it pulls steadily and strong, without drama. It has a quiet but complex exhaust note. And the cylinder heads act almost like fairing.

90 degree V-twin, just like the SV. Oriented differently, though. Air-cooled, fuel-injected, dry clutch, shaft drive.

I had a CX500c that had that engine layout. It's fun, if a bit top heavy. Guzzi's are sexy bikes. Congrats.

I like it. I've always wanted to ride a Guzzi. It must be unique, similar to how an old BMW boxer feels. I remember riding an airhead BMW boxer and thinking it was the strangest sensation.

I'm not a fan of air cooled engines, but it does keep things simpler.

I feel so inferior only having one motorcycle.

Bah. With proper gear (not a t-shirt and a baseball cap), proper training, and some self-control, I don't think bikes are as suicidal as most people seem to think. But that's a topic for another thread.

Of course, most of the people I know are in the suicycle camp. I think I can manage to at least get into an MSF class with the wife's permission, but my sack would be in grave danger if I tried to go much further without a lot of cajoling. Then again, we want more than one kid, so maybe the sack is safe for now.
