I'm surprised you are considering the FWD model, I think it would be worth the extra $$$ to get the xdrive ... especially when it comes to resale.
Not considering anything at the moment, but when/if we do, it won't be front dive. The car referenced above is an X drive model, the platform it's built on is a Mini Clubman, fwd chassis.

Did it have the new b series 4 cylinder, or is it still the n20 tractor engine? I do think the new X1 looks good. I checked one out a couple months ago when a buddy was looking at an e93 M3. I thought the interior was pretty cheap, but I didn't pay too much attention because at the time I didn't think we'd be buying a car for quite some time. I also thought the shifter was excessively large. Packaging was much nicer than the previous gen X1 both for the back seat occupants and the trunk.

It's a new engine, shared with the Mini.

I actually think the x1 is the best looking SUV in BMW's current line-up. Now that I think about it's probably the best looking of all the FWD based CUVs. Not my cup of tea, but I might consider one for a cheap enough lease .

Speaking of X1s - if anyone is looking for an electric Chinese version, this might do the trick:
