I don't know about the rest of GM, but Chevy has been shifting final assembly/configuration and installation of bolt on performance pieces to dealers in recent years.

It's mostly fine, but quality and consistency can leave something to be desired compared to normal factory outputs. I have a multi-point list of all the things the dealer didn't do or did wrong with my car.

It's also part of the way that Chevrolet can deliver that car for the price they do.

I know no one here is interested in this car but I have researched the h*ll out of it and GM is doing something very similar to Porsche where everything is ala cart plus the nicest wheels available for the car must be purchased as a second set of wheels (just wheels no tires). Such a weird way to make money plus the second optional set must be mounted by the dealer so basically the dealer needs to remove the tires from the first set and put them on the second set, then they give you the non optional wheels in boxes which to me sucks because who wants a dealer messing around with your wheels, how can they not get scratched.

Also quite a few options are dealer installed which again I find very odd
Nice… crazy that C8s are still a 12+ month wait, but not surprising given the constraints.

I was formerly allocation number one for a Z06 at a small town dealer. I know the GM. I bailed out last summer shortly after giving a deposit for the G87 M2. An individual that has known me for many years made a very valid statement, “I just cannot see you ever owning a General Motors product regardless of how good it might be.” After much reflection they were correct. I have never owned a big three auto and more than likely I never will. Admittedly I am a Euro snob.

LOL!!! I have owned 4 American cars total:

My high school muscle car days where three and a new and what I thought pretty cool at the time 94 Probe GT 5spd. The other 12 or so have been Asian or Euro.

EDIT: If the G87 is really good it will be my last BMW. If not then my current car is.

Having said all that the new Z06 seems just amazing with that engine. Still no stick.

About half my cars have been US brands. About 35% Asian and 15% European.

I never broke it down like that before.

One Sweden
Four Japan
Sixteen Germany - All BMWs with exception of one Porsche.

Edit: Fortunately I never had to share a vehicle with my former spouse as she is a nightmare on cars, cosmetically and mechanically.
