I'll preface by saying that I must have taken a lesson at ff's school of reading comprehension as I misread your post. Thought that "low frequency" was "high frequency."
Be that as it may, though, tires still have a pretty substantial impact on what you feel through the seat of your pants. It probably is your shocks (if you are remembering correctly to begin with), but I'm just pointing out that there could be other possibilites.

Perhaps the soft tires have somethign to do with it. Let me try to better explain my newbiness (I'll probably fail miserably ). When I go over a bump my head bobs up an down quickly. The extra bobbing lasts all of a fraction of a second and is pretty small in magnitude. My experience with shot shcoks in softly sprung cars is that the frequency is lower and the magnitude greater. This morning we had shitty weather so I took the Saabaru. I'm sure those shocks are in excellent shape. The duration of the "bobbing" was much shorter, but the magnitude bigger. The Saabaru rides on softer winter tires with more sidewall (15" wheels). I'm trying to remember back when my 330i was new and I remember the suspension being firm but no bobbing AT ALL. Then again, it could be that it is all in my head and I don't know jack about suspensions. With this in mind, except for rare ocassions, I had to look for this "bobbing" so it is not affecting my enjoyment of the car significantly... yet. |

It's kind of like a med student self-diagnosing all kinds of diseases and conditions he must have shortly after he learns about them.
