I recall driving the 987.1S pretty hard and PSM hardly came on (in the dry) except for the winter while driving it in summer tires.

To be clear, I was talking about intervention with PSM "Off" (which really isn't completely off on these cars).

I was thinking back to brakes. I drove a friend's 997 GT3 a couple years ago when I had just purchased my 987. I didn't notice anything different between the two in terms of braking. Porsche is fairly well-known for iterating things like brake pads throughout production runs, and pads have a huge impact on brake feel.

An LSD would be nice, though on the street the only time I really notice it is pulling into my driveway, which is a sharp turn and upslope. It's a little more obvious on the track, coming out of slow corners, which is where I assume the 987.2s cook their rear brakes.

FWIW, I've never had PSM intervene on the street, and even on the track (where I leave it on), it gives me enough slack that at my current skill level it's rarely triggered.

And yeah, on pads. Pagid yellows, in addition to being noisy AF on the street, feel like you've strapped soft pillows to the calipers when they are cold.

Glad DSC has improved over the years, the e36 DSC was very intrusive on my M3 and I turned it off by default.

I turn off PSM every time I drive the car, unless it's wet. It wore out the rear brake pads by ~ 40,000 miles.

The M performance LSD slots in nicely where you need it in the 2. Really helps with those turns up slope, and delays or avoids any DSC intervention.

E9x M3 DSC is quite good. The key, though, is that while the US programming is tolerable, switching over to the European modes makes it excellent. As in hang the tail out 30 degrees sideways and maintain it comfortably values of excellent.

I read that the Euro setting for MDM or whatever it is called in the F8X is also quite good.

I realize no one is interested in the 718--especially non S. But this is a very cool color:
