But yeah I think it will work well for her/us. I'll also be able to use it to haul around some stuff here and there that doesn't fit in my 135

Sounds like I good deal. I didn't have issues at all with SYNC in my Edge, but I live in an Android world.

I think the Escape uses the same POS DCT as in my wife's Focus.

Anyone who wants to experience the worlds worst transmission, just go out and rent a Focus

I don't think it does; from what the interwebs say, it looks like it's a conventional six speed automatic. My parents have had a bunch of these and never had any complaints about the transmission.

Should be pretty simple and straightforward. Dunno when the Escape switched form Sync 2 to Sync 3. Hopefully the car has Sync 3 because it's better and WAY faster than Sync 2 which was in my FoST.

Sync 2 has mostly black backgrounds and buttons are in colors based on function (IIRC, red for audio, blue for climate, green for nav, yellow for system). Sync 2 is "lighter" in appearance and more of a black on light blue gray, I think.

Sorry, but ok then.

Plan for semi-frequent spontaneous crash/reboots. Some trips now and then where it will take minutes to respond to button presses...if it responds at all.

Honestly, it's not that bad and works reasonably well almost all the time. It's just not great (not by 2013 standards (when it was new for me) and definitely not now).

After much experimentation, I settled on playing music from my iPhone through Bluetooth rather than as a directly connected USB device. Sound quality was not as good, but it was more flexible and easier to use. Direct connect might work better from Android phone, but For much of the time I had the car, I played music from a USB stick, but setting up playlists for it was a royal pain that never ended with good results.

Daughter got her permit last week and drove with me to her friend's house (part of the way once we got into neighborhood roads) yesterday.
