Don't need a fake SUV, but if I were going to buy one, I'd buy the FX45, 'cause it's so goofy looking.

The X5 has no appeal for me--never has. The 4.6is (which is the only X5 I've ever really driven in anger) is fast, but it's big, top-heavy, and handles like shit compared to a well-engineered, similarly heavy and spacious car.

I honestly cannot see the point.

if i NEEDED an SUV, i'd get a basic yukon or something that would be gutsy enough to tow a 3000lb-ish brute of a track car. with ease up and down hills and mountains.

i still hate the x3 but the x5 is something i've gotten used to seeing around.

Exactly.

For any buyer, either a full-blown truck SUV or a simple station wagon would better meet their needs.

The X line is pure marketing pandering to badge-buying lemmings (not you, though).

There is no BMW -- hell, no automobile -- I have less interest in.

I think it's ridiculous to see them driven as single-person commutermobiles, but this one is a very competent and comfortable tow vehicle. For what it's doing, pretty good in fuel efficiency, too; mid to high teens, towing.
