135is was N55, yes.

My 0.02, The N54 & N55 both have their documented issues. Behind the wheel the average consumer will not notice a difference between the two other than when needing major repairs.

unless youre a tuner, then the n54 has a lot more upside (and associated downside).

The 1er is a great platform... JV have you ever spent any time with one?

I have driven exactly one 135i and one 128i. The 128i was fine and would make an OK daily driver if I could stand looking at it (I can't). It drove not unlike an E46. The 135 embodied everything I hate about modern BMWs. Rubber-band power delivery, soggy suspension, and no limited slip translated into a really clumsy car on the road.
