What's astonishing to me are the prices on the e91 manual M-sports. Yeesh! Oh, and the M roadsters. Really, anything on that site!

I have really good memories of driving a 4-cylinder Z3... I don't think I'd want to drive one again -- it would feel horrible...

My car ownership history is decidedly smaller (and less car-like) than many others here, but my '99 M3 was definitely the second-most fun car I owned. I do miss it. If I were to actively go shopping today, I would consider a Boxster, but only because I've never owned one (in fact, I don't think I've driven one). I'm not sure a comparably priced Boxster would beat the M3 overall.
I do, however, think that $17k+ for even a very nice E36 M3/4 is kinda high. |

As you all know, I still have my e36 M3/4 that I bought way back in 2003. It doesn't see too much action (~500 miles per year) but it's fun enough that I haven't replaced it and somehow justify insuring it and garaging it in the city.
It could REALLY use another 30-50hp or so. Mine has a rotting exhaust, rust at the bottoms of the rear doors and one spot over a rear wheel. The shifter has also become extremely vague which is annoying. The sound system is one of the worst I've ever experienced in a vehicle, not that I really care. EDIT: I should add that I really do love the car. If I had bought a 330i like I originally intended, I'd probably have replaced it several times over by now. |

Any M car E46 and older seems to be on a crazy upward pricing path. Headed the way of all old P cars. AMG on the other hand is not.

That Dakar M3 is actually pretty cheap for EAG. It has been on there for awhile so kind of surprised it is still available. Make me think it doesn’t present in person as well as the pics or maybe people just don’t buy fun cars in the Midwestern winter.
Also EAG also do a bunch of preventative maintenance on them so it should be good to go. I like Dakar, unique color for BMW. Go check it out. |

I wanted a E36 M3 over a E46 M3 because I never owned a E36 bmw.
But I am keep my eyes open for a nicely configured E46, comp package , decent color, stick, cloth and no sunroof(unicorn ). Hey just like the one I had on deposit but got cold feet and backed out of |
