When I told them I would like to place an order they came back to me and asked for a $5k ADM which I declined. A week later I spoke to a Salesman at the same dealership whom we had purchased cars from 15+ years ago and he was kind enough to offer me the same allocation for an ADM of $10k
I would have gladly jumped at the chance to pay a $5k ADM in order to immediately acquire a 992S allocation. Our local Porsche dealer is not adding a ADM to their new cars and because of such every Tom, Dick, and Harry from out of state is lining up to purchase from them which equals them having a two year wait-list. It totally screws the local individuals within 100 miles. Kingsport, TN, Chattanooga,TN, and Asheville, NC are the next closest P’Car dealers.

The local BMW Center is adding a $5k ADM to all new M cars.

It’s not clear to me how durable the demand for new Porsches is going to be in 6-12 months.

Paying an ADM has always been bonkers to me. Except in very rare instances you can just ... wait. And pay MSRP (or less) with a little patience.

Obviously for stuff that is limited run you might be stuck.

Yep, I am uncertain as to how much longer this craziness can continue to proceed.

JV is right, there’s no real reason to pay ADM unless you think you’re going to miss the production boat completely. It’s too early for that, especially given the weakness in the market and uncertainties in the economy generally; I suspect waitlists and ADM will shrink over the next 12 months.

But I also think that if you want a car it’s not a bad idea to get on more than one dealer’s list.

Agreed. I am already reading stories about dealers’ hands weakening.

I did pay MSRP for my car, but I got rebate money back from BMWCCA. Seemed Ok given current order backlogs and inventory scarcities. But at 10k over, I would have kept my 2 series and limped along. Even 5k over would have given me pause.

I agree with all of you, which is why I am waiting. Also don’t want to pay unless the window is surely closing and that’s the only way to get one. We’ll see how things look on a year.

Yeah, I would not pay $5k over for a non-M BMW. Not happening… MSRP is already a hard pill to swallow when we all used to pay X amount over invoice.

Not to mention x over ED invoice which I took advantage of no less than 5 times.

Now that the 2 series is made in Mexico I don't care if it ever comes back, especially since the future is in electrics which gives me no joy anyway.

It's nice to have a Munich-built BMW again, if only for old time's sake. Who knows where my next car will be built? Could be Georgia
