I really don't get Ferrari service cost. Did you see a seat switch was replaced on that 550? Part cost was over $1k.
That 455 is a beautiful color combo. I think the issues with the seats are a combination of age and being parked out in the sun with the top down. Something tells me that Ferrari in the 90s didn't do a UV coating on the leather (keep in mind that Lexus introduced that in the late 80s and it took nearly a decade for the Germans to start using UV coatings). For all I know, the Italians still insist on traditional leather processes...

Yea, I didn't look closely enough to see the seats. I've noticed similar wear on nearly new amv8s that I've been looking at. It really sucks that cars like that are so beautiful and yet so poorly our together.
Its like they're all supermodels on heavy drugs and the 981 is your super cute super sweet neighbor who you finally realize you've been in love with since you were 6 yrs old

This, and you might not want to read the comments, if they turn sour on this auction

Looks like a substantial one. Carmax report say $39k to fix but the invoices say $25k. If fixed well, car could be a super bargain for someone that wants to drive it.

I looked at this car when it was for sale by its second owner 11 years ago.
For some reason, that color (turkis) just works for me. Back then - the seller was just a bit too proud of his car - and this one being the very first E9 I looked at - every imperfection just went straight to my eyes. So, the combination of $$ and condition (plus it was in Canada - having to get it south of the border) - I passed on it. Did I make the right decision? Yeah - I think so - but... Damn, that color!!! LOL The fella that bought it after I looked at it (back then) has taken good care of the car. Will be interesting to see how it does.

There was a silver 997S that went for 34,500 the other day that was probably a decent buy, but ugh, silver is the worst. There's an '08 997S up now in meteor gray, which is better than silver but still not my favorite color. It's got 70K miles on it, so that might keep the silly bidding in check. I still am not sure I want to get rid of the 987, though, even if I rarely get to drive it. |
