John, not sure if this is part of the same thing, but I recall when the Prelude was being hyped with "four-wheel-steering", it became all the rage, for a short time. Never did catch on though.

Pretty sure the prelude used an active 4WS system since it was a double-wishbone car front and rear. The Porsche and Mazda systems weren't really 4WS, they were just passive toe control.

My 2000 E320 has a DW set-up similar to what was on my 87 Accord Lxi hatch - that long, tall fork supporting an upper wishbone angled rear-ward. Early models of my car have a nasty problem; rust at the mounting point causes the suspension perch to collapse ... , you've probably seen older Mercedes with one side down in front, this is the reason (early W210's have well documented rust issues, sometimes from within a year of manufacture, seems Merc was using water-based paint that was prone to corrosion). |

The 300ZX had some kind of rear wheel steer, too, but don't remember if it was active or passive. Thinking about it, weren't there more than a handful of cars from the mid 80s to mid 90s that did something similar?

Silverados did as well. IIRC, it was taken off the option list because of its price and (probably resulting) unpopularity.

Plaz would've needed a video clip with a double bass drum kit had I gone for the "steering committee" joke
