FWIW, I opted not to buy a 911 on several occasions because I knew I would kill myself in it if I did at the time.
Turbo is a terrible track car. You might die of understeering into a wall.

(But Clyde, you have always been the adult among us)

Wondered around the local P-car dealer while waiting on the BMW airbag recall. Totally shocked to see that they had a new GTS with a manual transmission sitting on the lot.

As an aside, wtf kind of job should I have gotten that makes spending $145k on a car seem reasonable? Are there really that many professional athletes.....

Example: I know a couple that rent the bottom part of a two story Victorian in SF. A couple just moved in to the three bedroom upstairs part. Both work for google but the monthly RENT not mortgage is $8200 a month. WTF.

If I didn't buy my place in 2000, when I was single, not sure I would want to afford where it's at now. I might have moved already. If I ever sell I'm leaving and not coming back.

back-calculated into 1980s and 1990s money though, I'd bet the cars are cheaper now. the 993 was a helluva expensive car --no wonder Porsche almost died.

it is still shocking, though, when you are not ready to see what a GTS runs for --but consider that it is literally the fastest non-"Turbo" 911, it comes into focus. Because the 991.2 Turbo stickers for $193k, I think.

I remember back when base 911's use to start in the $60ks(or 70ks?)
