Depends on whether there’s an incident that fills a loved one’s face full of shrapnel in those three weeks, I suppose.

Conversely, I suppose it's entirely possible others would think my car's steering is too twitchy, but I don't.

In my humble opinion the VSS of the 1 M is the bench mark that the EAS racks should be shooting for, because it's fairly light and very quick, with the response always proportionate to the degree of input, regardless of the speed of travel. You can definitely feel it tighten up as the g's increase, but it never feels forced and artificial like the EAS systems do. It garners high marks for fidelity and the feeling you can trust the feedback it's returning to the pilot. That used to be a BMW trademark secret, but now becoming a long ago faded memory.

tick, tick, tick
When mine went in the 1er (at 30k miles), I was able to limp it to the dealer. When it went in the wagon (9xk miles), it left me in a Target parking lot. Lots of discussion on 1 addicts about whether to do it preemptively at some pre-decided mileage. It all depends how badly you don't want to get stranded somewhere.

If the expansion tank cracked I'd be worried about the thermostat housing. It's closer to the heat of the engine / exhaust and it appears to be the same plastic. The water pump is a no-brainer when you're there, as most of the work is removing the t-stat housing and draining / filling the system. The radiator has to come out on an E90 to get to this stuff. Really not liking the engineering of the newer BMWs

I'm going to talk to the service manager to get my damn wood trim. But.. what would you do regarding the survey? The options are 1) Slam them. They suck and they deserve it. 2) Blackmail them for something. The problem is, I don't want anything. Well, unless they were willing to sell me parts at cost (like a new bumper cover that is ~$700 MSRP?) #2 feels weird. Isn't #1 the right thing to do? |
