Toyota internal memo to self: OOPS.

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...1/TOC01ARCHIVE

"the sequoia" might be too big.

there might be overcapacity in their future.

oh no! welcome to automaking the American way, Toyota. congratulations. hopefully they'll be here long enough to deal with legacy healthcare costs, too.

okay my ABFAM ('sian brotha from nutha mutha):

what's the deal with the camry hybrid? i thought those cars were pretty decent. i mean, the complexity of the electronics scares me to death but it's a camry, right? proven platform.

Well, the prius is clearly a marketing machine of the highest caliber. They have waiting lists for the Prius that are months long. Yet Honda can't sell the practical, competitive civic hybrids.

People by them as status symbols and nothing more imo. Just another way to say "look at me and look how much better I am than you."

Put's the ///M marketing machine to shame, really.

1. Do NOT EVER under ANY circumstance, buy the Camry hybrid.
Have to say that there wasn't too much risk of that happening, but I'd be interested in hearing why not.

Nah, I just spent the day with my wife furniture shopping - you want to talk furniture? Good, I'm now an expert.

[quote=stuka;119610]and my buddy was also saying that people at Toyota were all wondering why their hybrid stuff sell better than the Honda's.
/quote]

See my comment above about "statements" and add in some "better than you" U.S. idealism, think about the fact that the hybrid civic looks like a civic and the prius screams LOOK AT ME and looks like . . . nothing else . . . and you will know why their stuff sells better.

There is only a real world 5mpg gain, according to the inside info. Sure doesn't seem worth it to me for the premium that they are charging over the standard Camry.
 we waited days to hear that? You made it to sound like it was something that we didn't already know.

i think Toyota has stepped to cover battery replacement --is that still true? the other issue that i know is a real problem for the Hondas is the ECU that controls the hybrid powertrain only has a 1 year warranty (like any computer). and it's pricey when it goes on the fritz (i was asking the local service dept. about it and they said that it's expensive).
