The odds that you will get dorked by a mediocre set of snows has to be pretty low. Note: I just received notice that the LM's are in, but since the next week or so calls for unseasonaly warm weather I'll forego mounting them until late next week. |

FC,
Nick encouraged me to get the Hankook Ice Bear snow tires last year for my M3. I can tell you that they are terrific in the snow, and have good siping for ice. Nick has driven (hard - following the suspension swap) in my car on those tires, and we didn't end up in a ditch. I recommend them. |

A couple friends have picked up the Icebears and they both really like them.

I just switched over from the LM22s I had on my 330i to a new set of Michelin Alpin PA2s. The LM22s were 205/50/17s and the Michelin's are 225/45/17s. The handling/cornering in the dry is much better with the wider tire--less mushy. I have yet to try them in the snow (it's been pretty warm in DC this winter). The LM22s, though, were great in the snow, so I can only imagine that LM25s will be better.
Our local experts, Radial Tire, told me that the V and H rated tires were actually the same. That the manufacturers make the H to the V speed rating and just label and price them differently. Don't have any disnterested/independent confirmation of that though.... |
