Its a great touring car. We did 600 miles in 3 days (260 each way + 40 miles tooling around on Saturday). The long part of the road trip wasn't fatiguing at all. With the top up it is quite quiet. Interesting tidbit: the 991 convertible is actually a 3 piece magnesium folding hard top covered in fabric... who knew?

Saturday was a blast, perfect top down weather, we zipped between Watkins Glenn and around our lake. Had stupid sing a long music playing, giggling like little kids.

It is filthy now, covered in dead bugs and layer upon layer of tree pollen.
What a perfect sounding day in these times and beautiful scenery.

It is for this reason that the hybrid oil-cooled/water cooled Mezger engines will soar in price in the future.

The pure air coolers are a hodgepodge of designs and band-aids.

The introduction of water cooling really allowed the engines to make serious reliable power.

To some degree, although that's offset by the vastly larger production numbers, and probably also future declines in demand.

Car started right up immediately with a fresh battery. It sat long enough that even with the battery disconnected, it was dead dead dead. I was honestly kind of surprised.

Damn. That’s still stupid money for that car. 58,000 miles and 14 year old car.

Agreed... While their interiors and many other things are much improved over the 986/996, the 2005 to 2008 987/997 I find hard to desire at this point. At least the earlier cars are quite cheap... What are BaT fees again 5 or 10%? Add tax to that... (And I'm sure states like NJ will tax even the auction fees) Ooof.

Agreed. With older 991s around 60k, it'd be hard to justify spending this much on a 997 unless you just really love that particular vintage for some reason. Having driven some 997s and some 991s I really prefer the latter. I dont think Porsche really got the watercooled-era 911 design quite right until the 991 either.
