When you put it that way...

I'll be honest... In this comparison, the M3 is the least bad.

Not the M5? It seems the most conservative.

The M3 is a more coherent execution, I think. It's not that I like it. But it all at least goes together in its wrongness.

The M5 feature's don't match up, even though they're individually better.

The teenage boys seem to love the new M3/M4 design language. Which maybe says BMW knows where the future lies?

TD's pictures show that the color you choose does make a difference with the M3

I think I prefer the M5, but I suspect it would be better without a totally blacked out grille and center post.

TD's car looks wicked from every angle but the front, and at least in black the front blends better. I've heard some people say they're getting used to that look, but I am...definitely not.

My neighbor's i4 startles me every morning. It's like a jump scare.

Though looking at the years in the "before" pics makes me think of that goose meme.

Why did you use 2005 for all of them?

WHY DIDN'T YOU USE 2005?

EDIT: Everyone talks about the trunk but I've never gotten over how bad the grilles were on the E65. Why aren't they just a little bigger to line up with the lights? Why does it look like they were smushed in at the last minute and don't quite fit right?? The LCI fixed this but I've always marveled at it and the disconnect it represents between a stylist's preferences and those of the general public. Like, that grille formulation presumably created tension or something in the stylist's mind, rather than just looking discordant.

I think the E60 might be the ugliest BMW ever (and I owned one). The very round front was so polar opposite to the very edgy back, it was almost aztek like in the way it seemed like some guy designed the front half, some other guy designed the back half and they super glued their models together.

I still hate the big grilles on the new m and 4 series. To me they look worse on the lower spec coupes/convertibles because there are fewer other design elements up front to distract you. TD's / WDC's points are right that they work best on black cars with M packages. There is a white 435 coupe with chrome trim in my parking lot. The massive black teeth lined in Chrome with the white background hurt my eyes.
