I did a track day with my low range (ie only ~200 miles max) Model S at Laguna Seca. See the photo - that’s me on the Corkscrew (man... it felt great to hit the line!).

Tesla brought Superchargers to the track, but I actually wasn’t able to use them (they were reserved for people that paid extra...) I had 2 sessions on the track (each was about 4 laps), plus a parade lap. I arrived at the track at about 86-87%, and left with about 40%. I went back to hotel to pick up my wife and daughter, and was able to charge for about an hour (at about 8kW) before heading out. We then hit a Supercharger in Gilroy - one of only 2 times I’ve had to wait for a Supercharger (a whopping 5 min...)

There's a guy that's run a 3 in both morning and afternoon sessions at FedEX (4 runs each) and plugged into the Tesla Supercharger in the adjacent lot in between.

For a single driver at a Pro, up to 22 (I think) runs over the course of the two day event with a potential total of maybe 550 seconds at full throttle (realistically, probably no more than half that). At a Tour format, 6 runs per event with a potential combined total of 270 seconds at full throttle (realistically, probably no more than half that).

All my totally unbiased, fair, and completely sane criticisms of Tesla aside, that doesn't seem like it should be a problem.

Ill need to read and see what happened here.

On a related note is there an easy fix for the Model S ECU out of memory error?

Reclassified to SS, apparently, along with the GT3 and GT3 RS. Guess the SEB really doesn't want to see Teslas winning things.

LOL! Was doing 5 different things and very much got treed before clicking "submit reply"

edit- there was no official explanation included, unfortunately, and I haven't taken a look to see if there's anything unofficial anywhere, but I suspect wet weather ability was probably a big factor and seeing what OTA updates did played a role, too.

I do not think anyone wants to see Teslas not win. I think it's more along the line of "how do we fit them in without pissing off a much larger segment of members?"

I'm not seeing how that's different from "how do we prevent them from winning."

Pulling them out of BS makes some sense, I guess, though given the diversity in that class I can see the argument for leaving them there another year to see if they actually are some sort of overdog.

Putting them into SS with things like the GT3 RS is...
