Subdivide your brand to qualify for more federal EV tax credits.

So the polestar qualified for its own $7500 tax credits (old news, I know)

Does anyone know if GMC and Chevy qualify separately?

What drops companies from spinning off new brands just to qualify for new credits? This seems like a seriously flawed system. Elon should have spawned a truck sub-brand.

I was wondering when a company would try to do that...

Maybe I live under a rock, but I've never even heard of half of those.

Because you don't see them in line at the local Tesla Supercharger?

From what I can tell, GMC doesn't make an EV.

I don't understand why GMC and Chevy both exist in the first place. It's just a stupid marketing gimmick. I'd much rather have the combined dealer support for a single brand. I'm sure they believe it benefits them in profits somehow or they wouldn't do it, but I don't think it benefits the customer.

But if they can get a separate EV rebate for each they finally have a legitimate reason to exist. They should be churning out the same damn EV under each brand to get double the credit. Maybe this is against the rules? Or are they just complete morons?
