I've seen this guy but never spoken with him, seems like he was an actual decent human being.

Sad. Anyone that volunteers like he did has to be one of the good guys...

When I read the article, I half expected it to be a 1-car crash. But reading that he was hit by a Camry when off to the side of the road is just horrible... I'm guessing it was dark, and if he was in the '60s style Batmobile, it may not have had hazard lights -- so if he left the lights on, the Camry may have thought he was on the road and moving, not stopped.

Out here, the advice for a sandstorm is to pull off the road and turn off lights and make sure not to hold the brakes -- to avoid what may have happened above... Only once visibility improves to you get back on the road.

Someone should get these jokers in their Camrys off the road.

(too soon?)

EDIT: Seriously, though, that is epically tragic.

Turns out this guy was my neighbor's cousin. Just saw him on TV describing the guy and what it took for him to get the costume on, etc. Wish I'd known before he was killed.

Tom posted on the Camry Corners FB page. A friend posted that he passed them shortly before the crash and described it a bit.
