He's already mentioned it as a contender...

Yes, it's a contender. I actually like the 328i as a kick-around-town car; in many ways it's better than the M3 for this purpose. I'd avoid the X drivetrain and would need the sport suspension, though. And it has to be red.

Great choices. But likely, you'll have to order it new--while you can.

Yes, which is one of the reasons it's in contention now. Ideally I'd just wait and replace the M3 with one, and get something else now. But by the time that the M3 is off-lease (a year from now), the wagon will likely be dead. It may be that the F30 335 sedan turns out to be all that and a bag of chips, though based on the very lukewarm reception the F10 has received I'm not holding my breath on that.

Stuka, if you're reading, did you look at that outfit in Cincinnati when you were looking at M5s?

This one is intriguing.

Sure. I was just expressing my opinion.

I really don't think I could bring myself to get a third E9x.

In fact I know I couldn't.

I think if you ordered the e90 end of model run, optioned exactly as you like it, you'd find it a keeper for a good long time (by our standards ).

BTW, driving a 335is convertible and an M3 coupe (the closest I can get to an M3 convertible with 7-speed double clutch at my dealer) tomorrow for comparison's sake.

I've had a E30, E36, E46... guess I'm due to get some type of E90/91/92/93.

Our 328iT doesn't have sport. I find it fine. Suspension is obviously softer than the Boxster, but its very comfortable. The only thing I really miss from not having sport is the adjustable thigh bolsters in the front seats...
