I've never had a chance to test, but TR says they are about equal. The DWS is excellent in the snow for what it is.

I wouldn't use either of those for a ski trip. They could get you home in a local small snowstorm. I have had the earlier but still highly rated A/S extreme contacts, on a subaru no less, for a trip to Lake Placid and they do not compare to decent winter tires.

I lost track. Are you talking about the DWS or the DWS06? Different tires. I remember this being difficult for me to keep track of before I bought the 06s for the XK8.

Tire companies are releasing way too many tires with different tread compounds, tread designs, sidewall stiffnesses, etc but using the same names (and that's before all the OE variations of what you would think are the same size of the same tire but are very, very different)...Not to mention lot-to-lot variability (that probably is a bigger deal in the pointy end of extreme performance summer tires than regular old all seasons).

Right, but we're talking about WDC's CX-5 in Atlanta.

My direct experience is with the DWS. However, every report that I've ever had about the DWS06 is that it's basically the same, just improved. TireRack's #1 complaint remains sloppy steering.

In which case, I would not compare them on how they are on snow and go Michelin P/S A/S all the way, though I'm not sure they make CUV/SUV sizes and loads. Maybe Latitude then.

Well, I think the initial ask was for FC's GTI, as a spring, summer, fall solution with winters in the mix.

The DW whatevers don't seem to be available for the Mazda. The Signature line has 19-inch wheels. There's just a Conti Procontact RX.

The Michelin Crossclimate2 (which I'ver never heard of) seems to be the top pick in Grand Touring All Seasons.

There are no decent tires in the size that the CX5 uses. It's pretty frustrating.

Yes. So strange. And annoying. Fortunately, I’m not in need yet, so maybe more will become available???

I haven't used the ECS, but the DW that preceded it handled like an all season. It's actually kind of my case study for mid-range summers vs. high end all seasons.
The DW was a little mushy compared to, say the PS4S or the ECS, but it had a lot better feel than any A/S I've encountered. My big complaint with it is it got loud when only 1/2 worn or so.
