This is kind of cool--DOHC 240Z

DOHC head for the Datsun 240.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/41805/...yle-dohc-head?

Reminiscent of Zora Arkos-Duntov's first project, OHV heads for the flathead Ford V8:

Or the Chevrolet brothers Frontenac heads for Model Ts:

Sort of related, I learned a bit ago from following Myron Vernis on twitter about the 240Z 432, which used the DOHC engine from the Skyline. Interesting that this was not a more mainstream build.

I know years ago there were crossflow (maybe not the correct term, but typically used to describe a "modern" flowing cylinder head with inlet on one side and exhaust on the other) cylinder heads available for the L24. But as far as I know those were still SOHC/2V heads, not DOHC/4V, and almost certainly didn't have modern combustion chambers or intake port sizes and heights like this head.

So yeah. This is super cool. As much as I like cars repowered with modern engines, hotrodding old stuff with modern tech is also really great.

Agreed on BMWs and how they used to sound like music. The S54 was the first engine that really ruined that for me (I know they can be made to sound good, but generally they sound awful to me). The newer turbo motors sound pretty awful as well. Before too much longer, cars will sound like .. nothing .

Perhaps the next time I do tires at your place, I'll take the RAV4 and you can experience for yourself the sweet, sweet sounds of below 20mph self-generated electronic squeal to protect pedestrians.

I would much prefer you drive the Camaro and do a trailer burnout.

I wish the manual SS Camaros came with linelock like the automatics...and manual turbo four banger RX-8s do.
