I'm partial to 997.2's, had one and would have one again. The 991.1's that I have drive all drove a bit better: more front grip, more wheelbase -> calmer but that doesn't erase the 997 just as the 981 doesn't erase the 987. I would say the ride/handling improvement is greater for the 997 to 991 than on the mid-engined cars, but the same steering feel loss is there as well.

I have recently located a manual 997.2 C2S. PPI and DME over-rev report pending mid month. Fingers crossed…

Dial 911

Ha! Hard for me to see where the 991 is more blobbish. I think the 996 was “peak blob”. I think I prefer the shorter front and rear overhangs plus the sleeker roofline of the 991. The rear end looks better as well with sleeker more modern tail lights. Arguably, those characteristics probably make it “less 911” but I’m not enough of a purist to care. I haven’t seen enough 992s in person to form a strong opinion yet. If I have an issue with them it’s all the black plastic on the front and rear. I’m sure they can be mitigated with enough $$$$ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have seen a couple 992s around town and while I do not have an issue with the 991 I certainly prefer 992. Unfortunately to get the seven speed manual you have got to buy/order the C2S and my specs were $155k. I am not a player at that number. Plus they are both much larger than what I want for a weekend sports car.

I think I’ve managed to work through my desire for a 911. I wouldn’t turn down a GT3 of any generation, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that the Boxster/Cayman is just the better sports car, if you don’t need the back seats.
Of course the prices haven’t hurt in helping me reach peace with the Boxster. But also a) only the very fastest 911s are faster than my family car, and I’ve come to understand that fast mostly doesn’t matter that much beyond a certain point, and b) lemmings experience with the Turbo S and the 987 convince me that if I can only have one, I’d rather have the 987. |

In 90% of driving a manual 987 is dynamically superior and it’s really just a more engaging car.

Yeah if I had to do a lot of highway driving I’d want a hard top and more power. 911 is the better GT for sure.

A manual, coupe 997.2 in good condition and decent build (color & options) would be fantastic. The .S is icing on the cake... I'd take one for a fair price. Best of luck!
