A $8-$10k add appears to be the norm for manual cars.
They must be on par with Land Rover prices then!

LR prices are April Fool's-high.

I found Porsche service prices were reasonable when I had my 987 serviced in Scottsdale. Oil changes were similar to what my wife’s Mini cost (same dealer group)…. Same for parts (I remember a part in the top folding mechanism that needed replacing being surprisingly inexpensive…)

Are 911 services more?

I have an excellent Indy and have found his prices to be maybe 20% higher than my BMW Indy. I did plugs and some other maintenance at 20k miles that required the rear bumper off and it was about $1200. More than I expected for a routine service.

I haven't had anything fail that needed replacement other than the water pump, which was warranty. Fyi, they extended the water pump warranty to 10/100k.

I just saw the service invoice for the Boxster 4.0 GTS that closed recently on BAT… dealer in SoCal charged $1200 or $1300 for what I think was a 20k service (at 4k miles) - oil, inspection, brake fluid, etc. yikes!!! Is that what regular maintenance runs on one of these at a Porsche dealer?

For reference I just paid $130 for an oil change on my M550 (V8 which I believe takes 9qts)

Bargain! The dealership oil change for my 911 last Summer was over $300 which is 7.8 or 7.9 qts. I am sure they just dump 8 qts in it.

I just went back and looked at my Quicken records for service on my Boxster...

I paid $731 for a service a few months before selling it (service was in March 2012). My notes say it was for a 24k/4-year service.

I also had an oil change and minor service done in March 2011 for $216.

The repair of the top mechanism (including parts) was $216. I had 2 other parts purchases from the local dealer for a whopping $4.34 combined (one was the OEM fuse puller, which was missing from my fuse block when I bought it...).

Overall, not bad -- I put ~35k miles on that Boxster in ~31 months, and paid under $1200 in maintenance on it...

Maintenance on our 987 was no more expensive than maintenance on the ZHP.

For the 4.0, the 20,000 mile service interval calls for brake fluid and engine oil changes. The filter is $20. Oil is around $60. Brake fluid about $15. So a hundred bucks, give or take? Not expensive.

Just looked at the invoice in the BAT listing again… minor service (oil, air filter, wipers) + brake fluid… $1323. Maybe just a really expensive dealer.

It’s about right.

Service at the dealer is expensive.

This is to be funny, but my PDE instructor/ambassador said “that stuff is 50% less for other cars because they’re literally 50% less car, dude. What do you want?”
