in a twisted way this is almost a good deal
compared to a GT2 RS
Quote:
As the name implies, this 911 features a 4.0-liter version of the Porsche flat six. The extra displacement comes from the crank used in the GT3 RSR track car. Porsche also threw in the forged titanium connecting rods from the RSR for good measure.
The result is the most powerful, normally aspirated engine ever offered in a production 911. The official numbers are 493 horsepower at 8,250 and 339 pound feet of torque at 5,750.
All that power should work well as the RS 4.0 also shaves weight thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber (seats, hood, spoiler), thinner carper and plastic rear windows. The curb weight is a claimed 2,998 pounds.
Porsche also threw in a few more claims. Like a 7:27 lap time at the Nurburgring and a 0-60 mph sprint of 3.9 seconds.
Only 600 will be sold worldwide. In the U.S., a 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will run $185,000 starting later this year.
