I have no desire for a station wagon

Up until a few years ago, definitely. But our needs have changed.

If it were available here and with a stick, gears would be turning. But I don't think that either will happen.

I'm one of the more wagon centric people on the board, but it would be a luke warm maybe for me. I don't think it would do anything better than my X5 for 99% of what the x5 does (ie quick / comfortable highway cruising with 3 people a dog and a load of stuff for 290 miles each way most weekends + four season daily driving duties). It would be a more entertaining daily, but we have the 911 and 135 for times we want to enjoy driving. The rest of the time, we enjoy the isolation the X5 provides from the outside world. Plus the grille is such a turn off to me that styling might be a non-starter. At this point in my life, I'd much prefer a 540 or 550 awd wagon over an M3 (or even M5) variant.

I much rather own a BMW SAV than a wagon, hence why it will never come here. My sentiments are the same as a large majority of Americans. This further confirms that ID8 is a shit show. Last edited by SCA; 06-22-2022 at 03:00 PM. |

I currently protect the sill with a quilted fabric cargo liner that has a protective apron that folds out, but it's too easy for them to knock it out of the way when jumping in. Also, in a wagon, the dogs noses only smear the cargo area windows--not all of the rear windows. And they can't stand on the upholstery of the rear doors |

Ever the contrarian, I enjoy having vehicles that you won't see very often on the road. And with a lower COG they are sportier than an SUV. In short, I enjoy the road less traveled in vehicles less seen.

I already have the grille and an automatic, so in for a penny/in for a pound.
