Given the choice of either one I would definitely go with the 997.2. Other than the E46 M3 being aesthetically pleasing the S54 never really amazed me and I spent three years driving one via a woman I dated. It was a SMG car so I do mostly blame it on that. We currently have two S54s within the family. A ‘02 M Roadster and ‘04 M3. vert. Manuals in both. If everyone remembers the M Roadster was only available with a manual. The good old days…. Anyways neither seem to get me excited when I get behind the wheel of them. Last edited by SCA; 10-07-2022 at 12:40 PM. |

I didn't know they made a widebody rwd 993, thought it was AWD only. Turbo(look) 993 is probably my favorite

No. They periodically maintain and insure it. Master techs from the Performance Center attend to the the collection in the Zentrum as well as the BMW Classic collection held within the “Secret Warehouse” near Plant Spartanburg. One tech has 35+ years of experience, he specifically attends to the older models.
FYI, every car within the museum is started and left to run every few months. Not the best thing in the world, but it is what it is. BTW, One of their number one complaints amongst Zentrum visitors is that the museum smells like old cars. “Hmm… it is a car museum” Last edited by SCA; 10-07-2022 at 02:14 PM. |

BMW Classic USA’s collection which is often rotated with BMW AG’s Classic collection is of substantially more value than my car and in some cases the vehicles are 1 of 1. Elvis’s fully restored 507 was formally displayed in the Zentrum with my car. They fired it up and let it idle every so often. If you guys/gals are unaware the Elvis 507 has been officially deemed as “priceless” Anyways… none of the above makes it right, but that is what they do. Last edited by SCA; 10-07-2022 at 03:53 PM. |

I saw it (and SCA’s car) when I was down there in 2016 - it turned out great!
