10 years and 108,000 miles later....

....I get to replace my very first window regulator. Right rear.

I have the old one laying in my garage for now (it's not a bad DIY so far), so tomorrow, I get to drive over to the stealership so that I can be $145 poorer and be walking out of there with a brand new regulator.

And the beauty of driving a sedan is, I get to worry about the 3 other windows.

Yay me !!

(BTW, that black, gooey "elephant shit" that makes the vapor barrier adhere to the door makes a good screw holder. Just put a dab in your socket and place the screw to be installed in it and it works wonders !!)

Well, that black tacky stuff was STILL tacky after about 16 hours later, so I just placed the vapor barrier back. Hopefully, it'll hold (It should. Man, that stuff is pretty strong).

Not a bad DIY. The hardest part was placing the new regulator inside the door. You just have to move some wires out of their holders and finagle it in without losing your patience.

After examining the old regulator, it looks like the white plastic "window holder" piece broke in the area where the cable connects to it. These damn BMW engineers can make an engine that is both powerful AND fuel-efficient, but yet they can't make regulator that can last ??

Shees....

The Minivan has 108,000 miles on it. No window problems, not power door problems (although the liftgate is slowing down), no mechanical problems at all really. Want to trade?

No offense Rob, but I'd rather slit my throat than have TWO minivans in my garage.

That black gunk was brand-new tacky in the '90 RX-7 too. Nasty stuff.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about my E46 window regulators any more.
