Old E46s and airbag recalls

New Takata recall impacts 99-01 3ers:

Am I reading it right that it's the driver airbag now?

How long until the 02-05 models get that too? Good lord.

mine is an '03. I had both the airbags recalled already, but I did hear that the 'new' takata airbags had a defect as well. How is that company not bankrupt and out of business?

They did and no longer exist...

Their assets were acquired by a competitor. I think the asset sale proceeds are covering the recall replacements now, with any underfunding going back to the automakers...

Even our E70 was recalled, and my E91...I sold both before the replacement airbags ever became available (I did disclose to buyers.)

To BMW's credit, they seem to have better tracking than other car companies as another salvo of affected parts gets unleashed.
