If you buy this car drive it and enjoy it, I am getting the impression you feel this car is so special you will treat it like a rare worn piece of jewelry ... this is something I never understood when someone buys a car ... aren’t we all people here who enjoy driving their cars ...

Price wise it seems this car is not a lot of money and if you regret it later on you can just sell it.

Stop putting so much thought into it, like Josh said put a top price on it and hopefully you get it.

Good luck it is a nice example for a car for this era.

Holy crap ... has anyone listened to the video on the Benz ... the guy is horrible, does he want to sell a car or have his own talk radio channel .... go click the video after 2 1/2 minutes you’ll stop watching it.

Just for some reality:

Self leveling suspension will be a pain point.

Engine will have tons of dry rot.

You won’t like the five speed automatic.

I have no control over the last one, but it doesn't stop it from being true.

I thought about this car some more, or more generally, the idea of owning this type of car, and I think I'd need to see one in person, drive it, and make sure I actually like to drive it first. If it were local or at least regional, I might go through the trouble of driving to check it out, but it's not, so I'll wait.

I saw a really nicely restored Pagoda today on the road in town. It was very, very pretty. I couldn't stop staring at it. They hadn't caught my eye like that before.

On the other OTHER hand, that amount of money plus selling the Miata would get you closer to a decent Boxster.

I just think you will hate it.

Any automatic from that era is just terrible.

That's what I keep thinking about. This is why (to lem's point) had not considered seriously owning one until JST posted the Pagani mod and got wheels turning. Then that got me looking and I started to see pretty ones like the ones I saw on those glossy brochure sin the 90's that I day dreamed about. I think I need to re-focus. Either get my hands dirty with a cheap one I can Pagani (and perhaps even think of the MT mod) or just forget about it, get a Boxster and spend my time on another interesting project.

The Boxster is definitely the better car, but you’ve also been there/done that. Nothing wrong with a little variety.

OTOH, if you just want fun loud noises, you could straight pipe a 1st Gen XC90 V8 and get pretty close.
