I think E46s are extremely demanding when it comes to batteries.

My 2002 is on its third one.

So is mine. The first was VERy short life. I would have to check the records, but something like 3.5 MONTHS.

The Roadster battery went about 11 years (built 1999, battery change in 2010 or 2011).

Parked the m3 outside last night so the clear bra on the x3 could cure a little better in the garage - it was not happy about starting this a.m. :doh:
