2000 BMW 528i - SOLD
2000 BMW 528i 5-speed manual sedan
Orient Blue Metallic/Sand Beige Leather Sports Package (17" 2-piece BBS wheels, M Sports suspension, bolstered seats, shadow-line window trim, 3-spoke M steering wheel) Premium Package (Wood trim, Rain sensor, Memory seats, Moonroof Heated Seats Xenon Lights CD changer (in trunk - if removed, the hook-up can be used for an ipod) 125k miles. Everything works! We have owned since 64k miles and have receipts going all the way. Previous to us, it was a CPO car and was over-maintained as well. Fluids have been flushed regularly (oil, brake, coolant and gearbox). The car has never been in an accident. The good: - New 17" summer dunlops, installed a few hundred miles ago. - Very new clutch, flywheel, motor mounts - New windshield - New xenon bulbs, still on original ballasts - Decent 15" winter set, blizzaks on bbs wheels - Newish spark plugs - Newish aux fan - Brakes have lots of life left - Non-metallic tints have protected interior quite well - Parked indoors for 11 years - Still gets high-20's, up to 30mpg on the highway, about 24-25 combined The not-so-good: - Parked out for 3.5 years. Bumpers and hood have scratches. - Perhaps some suspension parts need refreshing. Some bushings/arms were replaced around 100k, rest are original. - Occasional squeal from a belt or a pulley. Not internal to engine, but something to check out. - Headlight adjustment is set. Screws don't change aim. Cheap part but you need to get in there. Current aim is not that bad. - Cooling system is original. Some people replace pre-emptively. - There are VANOS dips on cold mornings, does not affect drivability much. Google m52tu (the engine code for this car) vanos and beisan. - Radio pixels are going. Truly last of a breed. Not that heavy (3450-3500lbs), luxurious on the highway, stick shift and reasonably sporty with great steering feel. A full-sized spare. Battery that you can connect and disconnect without going to the dealer. SOLD. Last edited by equ; 10-19-2014 at 10:37 PM. |

Yes, one of the last of the 'real' BMW's (IMO).
Good luck - an awesome car for the $$$. Should work well for a long time.

Thanks, Kevin & Ed... It's kind of hard to part with, it's a car that's really been good to us, never broke down or left us stranded in 61k miles of pretty heavy use. If I had a second home or needed a station car, I would keep it 100%.
