If you can still find a leftover 2004 RX-8

There's over $4k in incentive money that can be applied. Consider that an RX-8 with the GT Package invoices at ~$29k, a leftover can probably be had for less than that, then lop another $4k off it, and you've got a new, loaded RX8 for probably less than $25k. (FWIW, someone's year old GT RX-8 just went for about $24k on ebay).

Find a base model RX-8, and you're looking at about $21k. Yes, it's a car that's more than a year old the day you buy it, but I don't think that there's a better value out there. M3 killing performance for 1/3 the price.

You know a car is selling well when they pay you to lease it.

If I were looking for a car right now, and was able to find a base 04 RX8, I'd probably buy it.

Still $1K higher to buy it new, using clyde's numbers.

But he said you could probably get it for less than invoice.

Much of the incentive money is linked to financing through MAC (and applies, to varying degrees, to all new Mazda purchases). Their rates seem reasonably good, but the better part is that you can still prepay quickly without penalty (or forfiture of the cash back).

OTOH, leases seem to be pretty good too right now.

BTW...joining the Mazda Motorsport program qualifies you for S Plan Mazda pricing. Wonder if the PIN would be good for X Plan Ford prciing?

that's an absolute steal.

good grief. if i was seriously bored with my own car and wanted to try something different, i would absolutely, no question buy an rx8 right now. one thing that i recently learned about financing is that in the commonwealth of MA, it isn't allowed to penalize people for early payoff of loans.

but i digress.

what a phenomenal car for the money.
