Replacing the Tesla?

With that said FC if you are reading this, my overall average since I got my car is 15mpg. I know you are considering one for your commute.

Yea, bummer they won’t offer a V8 but I’ve know that for a while. Will enjoy the V8 while I can. Planning on keeping the V8 X5 for a while, will decide what to do with the M550 after we get to check out the new 5er in the flesh.

Here is the lineup for the new 5 series beyond the i5 models already announced:

11/23: adding worldwide 530e (B48M2+EM, 295hp), 530e xDrive, and 550e xDrive (B58U2+EM, 480hp), US 540i xDrive (B58M2, 370hp) and 550e xDrive.
03/24: adding i5 xDrive40.
07/24: adding M560e xDrive (B58M2+EM, 565hp).

M560e will replace M550 in the lineup with a B58 hybrid configuration with 565hp. Should be a beast to be honest. V8 will still be available in the next M5.

I think I’ve mentioned elsewhere that the 330e is a lot more fun to drive than the i4, just because it weighs so much less. But the 330e doesn’t solve the space issue for me.

Really just nothing out there that interesting to me. I’d be all over the A4 if it had a stick, since it would be a reincarnation of the 535xiT, but with the DSG it’s sort of boring. Pleasant but boring.

The Mach E would be great but coming from a Tesla it feels like a step down in capability, even if some of the features are nicer.

There are a few Stingers around. Maybe I’ll try and track one of those down to drive.

Wish I hadn’t missed the XF wagon.

The Panamera wagon looks nice but I can’t see paying the premium for that thing.

Here I go, because I am the mudgeon car matchmaker: Maybe JST should consider Sean’s X5. We know it’s been taken care of, and it would be a solid placeholder until more interesting selections are available. It’s definitely a great era for the X5…

I had almost forgot about that car.

What a handsome wagon.

Hell, or an AMG E63S Wagon.

Just a touch over the price range if new or near new.

.

A little confused about this point - none of the other choices have a manual either?

Even with the silly plastic wheel arches and slight lift I still really like the way the a4 wagon looks both inside and out. As a daily driver, I think the feeling of quality (from the panel gaps, the way the doors shut, the switchgear feel, etc) add up to make a satisfying ownership experience even compared to something more exciting to drive. It’s the little things that you can appreciate all the time…

Might be over the size / price ceiling but I’d also throw the A6 Allroad into the mix. I think it’s a better looking car than the A4 Allroad plus more space & a V6 vs. 4cyl.

I've been on the waitlist for one for 5 months now..the dealer finally got an allocation and thinks it could arrive "sometime in winter". They are like unicorns. But my wife and I both loved the looks, comfort, quality, and driving characteristics of the one that we test drove back in December (and we rarely agree on cars). The ride quality is amazing. Only downside is the lack of interior storage space for such a big car (if you're ever in an a6 open the center console lid to see what i mean...it's barely big enough to hold an iphone mini). I could've bought the one they had on the lot but a) didn't need a new car at that point b) didn't love the color they had (silver), and c) wanted the upgraded seats/leather.
