Wife got tags for it today and I drove my oldest daughter over in the evening. She drove home and I followed. Temps were 30ish. At each light, I wondered if it was smoke or vapor I was seeing. Wasn't too happy about the burning smell I kept catching whiffs of. But maybe it was...something else?

30 minutes later, when we pulled into a Potbelly parking lot and I had resigned myself to paying for...something, she told me teh car kept beeping at her the whole way. But only when moving. "Show me."

Parking brake was on.

At a long red light between Potbelly and the house, she texted with Siri "This car drives a lot easier when the parking brake isn't on."

A burning parking brake smell is about the cheapest burning smell you're gonna get.

I almost failed my driving test b/c the person I went with set the parking break before I started my test. I was in an unfamiliar car and did not know they were engaged. I put the car in reverse to back out of the parking space and it didn’t move. Took me a second to figure it out and the instructor penalized me for it. 🤦🏻*♂️

Ugh

In my daughter's defense, it was was the first time she drove a car with a handbrake, nearly the only time she drove a car with a parking brake that isn't integrated into shifter, it was the first time she drove the car, and it was dark.

Still, I feel like it was a failure on my part.

It seems like you found what was needed. Agreed on the Honda/Acura leather though... I hope it lasts a long time for your daughters!

Nah... Hopefully it's either a cheap or a no repair. It's a good way for her to learn to pay attention to beeps and warnings. Just bad luck really.

Nope, not your fault. Don't beat yourself up about it, for the rest of your life it will be something you can both laugh about
